Delhi government has called a meeting of private healthcare stakeholders later this week to discuss various issues pertaining to the sector and evolve a code of ethics and regulations to govern the services provided by them.
The Delhi Dialogue Commission, an advisory body of Delhi government, is organising a town hall meeting of the representatives of the private healthcare sector on April 25 at Maulana Azad Medical College here, which will be inaugurated by Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain.
Among the private healthcare stakeholders will be doctors, nursing homes, hospitals, labs and diagnostic centres.
According to a senior official, issues of overcharging by private hospitals, referral practice, over-investigation, unwarranted surgeries, registration and standardisation of labs, standardised treatment protocols in the Indian scenario and over-the-counter drug sales will be discussed at the meeting.
The idea behind the meeting is to have a constructive platform for discussion for evolving a code of ethics and regulations for the private healthcare sector, the official said.
Veteran doctors of private hospitals will share their views on how to work towards the goal of creating an efficient, accountable and transparent health system in Delhi.
DDC has also invited the opinion of Delhi residents for making the private healthcare sector better and more transparent. Residents can send their ideas and suggestions to ddc.Healths@gmail.Com.
