Delhi govt constitutes 2-member panel to review all licences

Aiming at put an end to 'licence raj' in the national capital, the Delhi government today constituted a two-member committee to review all licences needed in different works.
According to government, the committee has been asked to submit its report till July 31. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
"Government wants to finish licence raj in Delhi. Small and big traders need different licences for doing business which is very difficult process for them.
"Besides, they also have to get their licences renewed annually from fire department, civic bodies, government," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told reporters here.
To provide relief to city's traders, the government has formed a two-member committee to be headed by Principal Secretary (Finance) S N Sahai, Sisodia said, adding that it will submit its report by July 31.
"Getting licence from different departments is also big source of corruption. The committee will review all types of licences needed in doing business in the national capital.
"It will also find out the actual need of licence. When we talk about ease of business, so there is dire need to finish licence raj," he said.
He also said that government has decided to finish annual renewal of all licences.
