The committee, which will be chaired by the deputy director (financial assistance) of the social welfare department, comprises three district officers of the same and two district officers of the Women and Child Welfare Department.
"The committee will verify the list of beneficiaries. This is the first step before the government considers taking over the pensioners of the MCDs as they do not have the financial conditions to continue the schemes," a senior government official said.
The court's direction had come on a petition seeking contempt proceedings against the civic bodies here for not providing a list of beneficiaries to the the Delhi government.
The plea had alleged that the government and civic bodies were "wilfully and deliberately disobeying and not complying" with a previous court order, passed on January 20, that had directed all the three MCDs to furnish list of the aged beneficiaries of pension under MCD schemes to Delhi government within four weeks.
