Delhi govt decides to revamp its anto-corruption helpline

Acting on its 'zero tolerance policy' against corruption, Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government today decided to revamp its anti-corruption helpline, which was launched during its earlier 49-day stint.
The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at Delhi Secretariat.
The revamped anti-corruption helpline will help trap government employees who demand bribes.
"As per our promise, we have decided to launch anti-corruption helpline after around 15 days.
"We appeal to people if anyone is asked to pay a bribe by any official in Delhi, he or she should record it and give it to us through anti-corruption helpline. We will take strict action against him or her," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told reporters here.

During its 49-day stint, AAP had in January 2014 announced anti-corruption helpline - 011- 2735 7169 and hours after its launch, thousands of complaints relating to corruption flooded this helpline which reportedly crashed the system.

"Goverment has also decided to train the staff of anti-corruption helpline so that they could efficiently attend to the complaints. We will organise a training programme for them," Sisodia said.
Sources in the government said that in the Cabinet meeting, VAT and other such issues were also discussed.
In its poll's manifesto, AAP had promised that Delhi will have the lowest VAT regime in India and will simplify other tax structures.

It had also promised to put an end to raid culture and inspector raj in the national capital if it came to power.
