Delhi government today said that it will not give charge of Service and General Administration Department (GAD) to Principal Secretary Anindo Majumdar who had issued an order notifying the appointment of Shakuntala Gamlin as the acting chief secretary against the wishes of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
"Delhi government stands by its order to remove Majumdar from the post of Principal Secretary Service and GAD, which was issued on Saturday after he issued the appointment letter to Gamlin, following instructions from Lt Governor Najeeb Jung," senior official said.
He further said that Majumdar is still with Delhi government as Principal Secretary but without any charge. His charge of Principal Secretary of Services Department was today given to Chief Minister's Secretary Rajendra Kumar.
Jung shot off a letter to Kejriwal, declaring Kumar's appointment in place of Majumdar "void", noting that it did not have his approval.
Refusing to accept Jung's order, the Chief Minister Office said the LG can do transfer and appointment of officers but allocation of work is decided by the state government.
Rajendra Kumar's appointment by the AAP government came hours after it locked the office of Principal Secretary (Services) Anindo Majumdar today.
"We have not denied him entry. The office was locked as it will be used by Rajendra Kumar when he requires using it. Similarly, Shakuntala Gamblin is operating from her office of Principal Secretary (power) office on the eighth floor and can access the Chief Secretary's office on the fifth floor of the building when required," the senior official said.
