Delhi government tonight dismissed claims by a prosecutor earlier handling an alleged Rs. 100 crore transport scam that he had been pressurised by some top officials in the matter.
Vinod Kumar Sharma, a prosecutor, wrote a letter to Delhi Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) chief M K Meena that he had been called by some senior officials who pressurised him to show them files before finalising the chargesheet in the case.
The ACB filed a chargesheet in the case yesterday naming nine persons, including 2 IAS officers, as accused.
Reacting to the letter, Delhi government sources said that "this is a cover up attempt by an illegally-imposed ACB chief appointed by the Lt Governor. Attempts to needlessly drag names of senior officials will be legally dealt with."
The government, which is at loggerheads with the ACB chief, has appointed B S Joon as Special Public Prosecutor in the case on Thursday.
