A meeting of the Delhi Cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also decided to increase the number of its legal counsels in the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
Accepting recommendation of the Home Department, the Cabinet decided to create the post of Senior Standing Counsel (Civil) in the high court while increasing the number of additional standing counsels (civil) from seven to 15.
Currently the Delhi government's legal team in the high court comprises one standing counsel and seven additional standing counsels.
The government has also decided to create four new posts of Additional Standing Counsels in the NGT.

The decision to enhance its legal team in the high court came when the AAP government was involved in legal battles with the Lt Governor and the Centre on a number of issues.
Important cases in the Delhi High Court involving AAP government include its challenge to Home Ministry notification giving certain powers to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, appointment of Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chief M K Meena and a PIL questioning appointment of an commission of inquiry into CNG fitness scam.
As per the revised scale, pay scale of Assistant Public Prosecutors Existing will be Rs 15,600-39,100 as against existing Rs 9300-34,800.
The pay scale of Director (Prosecution) has been hiked to Rs 37,000-67,000 from Rs 15,600-39,100.
Pay scales of Additional Public Prosecutors and Chief Prosecutors have also been hiked.
"The Cabinet took note of the fact that the job of prosecutors in Delhi is very taxing, since the complexity of court cases in the national capital is more in comparison to other places, and therefore the proposal for increase in pay hike is justified," the government said in a statement.
