The nitty gritties of the ambitious 'Dilli Annashree Yojana' was finalised at a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
"We are planning to implement the scheme from November 19. It will benefit around two lakh families. The scheme would go a long way in making Delhi a hunger-free state," Dikshit said. The Chief Minister had announced the scheme while presenting the budget in May.
"A food subsidy of Rs 600 per month would be transferred directly in the bank account of the senior most female member of the household," Dikshit said. The government will spend around Rs 150 crore in the current financial year for the scheme.
There are around four lakh households getting subsidised food items lakh BPL and AAY schemes.
