The Public Works Department (PWD) has issued instructions to all of its engineers to visit construction sites under their jurisdiction and identify spots of stagnant water which may lead to the breeding of mosquitoes.
"We have formed several teams of engineers who will inspect construction sites and government's residential colonies, and find the breeding ground for mosquitoes," a senior government official said.
The official said that the teams have been asked to submit their reports at the earliest so that action could be taken against violators.
In 2016, a total of 4,431 cases of dengue and 7,760 cases of chikungunya were reported.
