Delhi Government today issued a notice to a city-based nursing home for allegedly denying treatment to a 13-year-old boy, who was brought in an unconscious state after getting injured in a scuffle.
As per the notice, Rajat Menon was brought to Malik Nursing Home in Mayur Vihar phase III in an unconscious state after getting injured during a scuffle with two teenagers, both sons of a local paan shop owner, on June 29.
However, Menon was denied treatment and he later succumbed to his injuries.
"In para A of the advisory dated February 5, 2014 issued by Director, Health Services, it was mentioned that hospitals must provide immediate medical care without any delay, due to any reason whatsoever, to persons requiring emergency medical care. The copy of advisory is also available on Delhi government health website," the notice said.
It also mentioned the clause 14, 2 of the Schedule appended with Rule 14, Delhi Nursing Homes Registration Rules, 2011, which states that nursing homes shall not refuse treatment to injured and serious patients brought to them due to any reason whatsoever.
It also asked the hospital why its registration should not be cancelled.
