"The government has set for itself a target of increasing the green cover in the national capital from the existing 20 per cent to 25 per cent in the next five years. For this, a drive was inaugurated today by Delhi Environment and Forest Minister Asim Ahmed Khan," a Delhi government official said.
"Thirty thousand saplings were planted at three government-run schools today and the minister also lauded the role of Department of Education and asked it to plant one lakh saplings during the current financial year," he said.
Khan impressed upon the children about the benefits of green cover for Delhi, which will control air pollution and improve soil conservation.
