"The plant will be based on 'activated sludge process' technology and will be fully automated with the facility of online monitoring of all the treated effluent parameters.
"Being the biggest plant ever built in India based on this technology, it will be sustainable in respect of power consumption," a Delhi Jal Board (DJB) official said.
Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra said the STP plant at Coronation Pillar is Asia's biggest and cheapest STP and will help in cleaning the Yamuna.
The total cost of this project is Rs 515 core and it is expected to be completed in 30 months, he said.

The STP at Coronation Pillar is an integral part of Sewage Master Plan-2031 of the Delhi government.
"The STP will also treat wastewater originating from unauthorised colonies and unsewered areas reaching Yamuna, hence boosting efforts of cleaning the Yamuna river," the DJB official said.
The STP is designed on advanced and modern parameters to treat water upto BOD/TSS level of 10/10, he said.
