In a special drive carried out across the city last week, the department also impounded 191 vehicles for allegedly carrying goods without paying VAT and realised a penalty of Rs 74 lakh, officials said.
The premises of 38 traders were surveyed of which two establishment have been sealed for evading taxes, they said.
"Taking into account the variation in cash and stock at the time of the survey and the value of seizures, the tax and penalty estimated to be realised is Rs 6.66 crore," said an official.
