At a review meeting, Health Minister A K Walia said the spread of disease should be closely monitored and asked authorities to keep their preparedness at optimum level and ensure that hospital beds, testing kits, medicines and platelets are adequately available.
"If the situation requires provision of extra beds, the disaster management beds can be utilised as well as additional exclusive wards be earmarked for the patients," he said.
He also asked blood banks to ensure that there is no shortage of platelets at any stage and directed Medical Superintendents of hospitals to effectively coordinate with blood banks and ensure that the patients are provided platelets well in time.
Walia directed health officials of the local bodies to step up house-to-house fogging. He said that the focus must shift from local fogging to domestic fogging as it would be much more effective at this stage.
Malba removal from construction sites and sanitation must be given top priority.
He also stressed that the students of all the schools under Delhi Government, three municipal bodies, NDMC and Cantonment Board should also be effectively involved in dengue & malaria prevention and control strategy as they can play a vital role in creating awareness.
