The issue of penalising violators of the scheme was discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today.
"In the meeting, CM was apprised by officials that Delhi government doesn't need to enact a law to impose the fine on those violating odd-even scheme as existing Acts allow the state government to do the same," said a senior government official.
The official said the government is studying three existing Acts - Environment Protection Act, the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act and Motor Vehicles Act - under which government can impose a penalty on the violators.
After the meeting, Kejriwal had said he apprised Singh of all the proposals during his nearly 40-minute-long meeting with the Home Minister, whose response was "very positive".
