PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said the government has already launched the project to improve over 800 km of road length.

He was speaking after laying foundation stone of a foot overbridge at Netajee Subhas Palace in Pitampura.

Not satisfied with MCD's maintenance of the roads, the government had, in December last year, taken over 674 streets with a total length of 802 km from it.

Most of the roads will be re-laid and PWD will look after their maintenance.

The total length of road network in the city is more than 31,000 km, out of which MCD maintains around 27,000 km.
