Lt Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung today deferred the sealing order on industrial units running in residential areas till survey and actual status of the units are ascertained by MCD, a top civic official said.
A delegation of senior civic officials and all three mayors of the city called on Jung to apprise him of the situation in this regard. The delegation was led by North Delhi Mayor Yogender Chandolia.
"We had a fruitful meeting with LG (Jung) and he has decided to defer sealing and directed the municipal commissioners to stop or delay sealing," Chandolia told PTI.
"We demanded from the Lt Governor to postpone the sealing of industrial units till the proper survey to ascertain the actual position of the units. It has been deferred till it is confirmed whether they (units) are still running in violation of the norms and the relocated place have been provided with the basic infrastructure," he said.
They also demanded that sealing be stopped till the actual violators are ascertained with present status and to ensure that the basic infrastructure to shift their industries is provided at the place of relocation.
Chandolia also said that Bhorgarh, which has been relocated with 600 units, lacks necessary facilities required.
He further detailed the plight of some of the owners who have changed their industries to production units permissible under Master Plan Development 2021 in the residential area but are also not spared of sealing.
