They hit out at the AAP government for "keeping quiet" over the issue till the last moment and coming out in protest when the decision was being implemented.
"The fare hike is disappointing as it will hit the common man and students," said BJP-SAD MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa, participating in a calling attention motion on the Metro fare hike in the Assembly today.
BJP MLA O P Sharma attacked the Arvind Kejriwal government for "sleeping over" the issue.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Board, in its meeting last evening, refused to withhold the fare hike, strongly opposed by the Delhi government.

Sirsa demanded that the report of the Delhi chief secretary, who attended the meeting in May, should be tabled in the Delhi Assembly.
"How is it possible that the chief minister was unaware of the fare hike when his chief secretary gave his report on the DRMC Board meeting to him?" Sirsa questioned.
