Asking Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to take action against the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief, Mishra said people from Bihar have been contributing significantly to the economic growth and over all development of the state.
"The remarks against people of Bihar are totally unacceptable. I strongly condemn such behaviour. The MNS chief should be put behind the bar for trying to disturb the communal harmony in Maharashtra," Mishra said.
The MP, who has a strong support base of Purvanchalli people in the city, said he would soon write to Chavan demanding action against Thackeray.
Thackeray on Friday had threatened to brand Biharis as "infiltrators" and force them out of Maharashtra if authorities in Bihar took legal action against the men from Mumbai police who picked up a teenager from there without informing their counterparts in the eastern state.
