"Crime Branch has busted a gang of suppliers of fake Indian currency with the arrest of one Nadeem aka Salim of the notorious Salman Gang. Fake Indian currency notes of Rs 500 denomination amounting Rs 49,000 have been recovered from him," Addl. Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.
Crime Branch of Delhi Police had received a tip-off that someone will come to Chandagi Ram Akhara near Ring Road here, to deliver fake Indian currency to his clients.
Nadeem fell into bad company and also became a drug addict because his family was poor.
He came into contact with the gang's leader Salman, and initially, used to take fake currency notes in small quantities from him and circulate them in local markets to test the quality of the notes.
Later, he began giving these notes to some other associates for circulation in the market and decided to start this business on a large scale, the officer said.
