Delhi Police issues traffic advisory for I-Day celebrations

Delhi Police today issued traffic advisory for Independence Day celebrations on Thursday, which will also be in place for the full dress rehearsal tomorrow.
"There would be elaborate traffic arrangements to facilitate the movement of VIP vehicles, invitees and general public to reach the place of function and also to ensure safe and smooth flow of traffic in other parts of the city,"s Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla said.
Major roads around Red Fort area would be closed for general traffic from 5 AM to 9 AM on Tuesday and Thursday.
Restriction on traffic would apply to Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail, Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail, S P Mukherjee Marg from H C Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk, Chandni Chowk from Fountain to Red Fort Chowk, New Darya Ganj Road from Ring Road to Netaji Subhas Marg and Link Road from Esplanade Road to Netaji Subhas Marg, police said.
Vehicles which do not have parking labels for Independence Day or for rehearsal day may avoid Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Subhash Marg, JL Nehru Marg and Ring Road between Nizammuddin Bridge and ISBT bridge and take the route as advised, he said.
"Vehicles should avoid Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Subhash Marg, J L Nehru Marg and Ring Road between Nizamuddin Bridge and ISBT bridge," Shukla said.

Local city buses including DTC would be restricted on Ring Road from 5 AM to 9 AM between Hanuman Setu and Bhairon Road 'T' point.
Buses terminating at Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Delhi Main Railway station will be diverted, police said.
"Since the entire city will be under heightened security, barricades and checking will be intensified within the city and at the borders. Citizens are requested to plan their movements accordingly," Shukla said.
Informative signages have been displayed for the guidance of vehicular traffic destined for the Red Fort function at all important traffic junctions, police said.
"There shall be special checking of all vehicles, both private and commercial, entering the NCT from the neighbouring states through border entry points, from 8:00 PM on the intervening night of 12-13 and 14-15 August," he said.
