Delhi Police's Cyber Crime cell today launched an awareness and safety campaign aimed at curbing rampant increase in cyber crimes, especially among minors. Asking children to refrain from entering adult and hate sites, informing them of the cyber laws of the country, advertising publicity campaigns, creating awareness amongst school administration and teachers are some of the highlights of this programme. According to the Delhi Police, which targets children in the age group of 14-18 years through this campaign, 245 cases of fake profile and 51 of defamation were filed last year with majority of the victims being minors. The Delhi Police also mulls appointing Internet Safety officers in each school by training designated teachers. S D Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Economic Offences Wing, said parents will also be communicated to and trained as a part of this campaign so that they can guide their children and prevent them from being cyber crime victims.
