Delhi police meeting with neighbouring state police officers

Delhi Police officers today held a meeting with police officers of neighbouring states and discussed various issues including sharing of terror related intelligence and inputs about various extremist outfits.
Keeping in view of recent militant attack in Gurdaspur, police higher ups today held discussions to strengthen security grid on the eve on Independence Day, said a statement issued by Delhi Police Headquarters.
Chairing the meeting Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi stressed on increasing police presence, intensive and co-ordinated checking at vulnerable points, tenant verification, guest house checking and sensitization of cyber cafe owners, second-hand car dealers, transporters, property dealers, cycle sellers, chemical dealers and STD/ISD PCO booth owners in order to strengthen the counter terrorism measures.
He further sensitized the officers to keep close watch on open areas which can be used for launching para-gliders, micro-light aircrafts which have the potential to be used in terror related activities.
The officers attending the meeting also shared intelligence to check crime committed by interstate criminals.
Issues of human trafficking, missing children and proliferation of fake Indian currency notes (FICN) and smuggling of illicit firearms were raised and preventive steps were discussed emphasizing upon integrated joint checking at unmanned borders in tandem with each other.
The preparations of Kanwar Mela, traffic issues, coordination in NCR region, Panchayat elections in Haryana and UP were also discussed in the meeting.
