Delhi Police solve 16 burglary cases, arrest one

Delhi Police today claimed to have solved 16 cases of burglary reported from various parts of the city in the recent months with the arrest of one person.
Jitender Kashyap (21) was arrested on October 25 from R K Puram area after a tip-off. Stolen cash of about Rs two lakh, gold and silver jewellery worth several lakhs, expensive mobile phones, watches, cameras, one knife and house breaking equipment were recovered from his possession, police said.
According to police, Kashyap during interrogation allegedly told police that he belonged to 'Inderpal Gang' of burglars of Chandosi, Uttar Pradesh.
"The gang targets flats and kothis (mansions) in posh localities and take the stolen goods to their native villages.
"During the day, they used to conduct recce in the posh area and carry some tools with them so that in case of any suspicion, they can pose as plumber, mechanic etc," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) B S Jaiswal.
"They steal only jewelery, costly watches, electronic items and other valuables, which are easy to carry and sell to jewellers in Muradabad and Bhaijoi in UP," added Jaiswal.
"Further investigation is on in the case and efforts are being made to arrest the remaining accused," police said.
