"We have decided to contribute Rs one crore from the salaries of our personnel to Prime Minister's Relief Fund for those affected by the devastating flash-floods in Uttarakhand," Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said today at the flagging off ceremony of new PCR vans of Delhi Police at India Gate.
Several security and other organisations have also pledged part of their salaries for the rescue and relief operations in the hill state.
Uttarakhand has bore the maximum brunt of the Himalayan Tsunami which has left a trail of devastation and destruction. Thousands of people are still stranded or missing while relief teams race against time and battle inclement weather to rescue them.
