Delhi poll office holds meeting to ensure peaceful elections

The office of Delhi Chief Electoral Officer today conducted a meeting of its peace committee in Central Delhi in view to conduct peaceful assembly elections on December 4.
"The aim of the meeting was to ensure elections are conducted in peaceful manner in already identified critical polling stations of the area," said an election officer.
The meeting was organised by District Election Officer (central) Ashima Jain and attended by senior police officers from Central District.
Jain said the meeting was first time conducted in central district although there was a tradition to hold such meeting in other districts.
95-year-old freedom fighter Shaukat Ali Hashmi was felicitated by the DEO (Central) during the function.

Meanwhile, a cycle rally was organised in Sultanpuri area of South-West Delhi under voters awareness programme.
"The rally started with around 500 cyclists, but by the time it took rounds in the area, around 8,000 people joined the rally. Street shows were also conducted on the route of rally," said an election officer.
