The All Guest Teacher Association today staged a day-long protest on the road, which is fast replacing Jantar Mantar as the preferred venue for demonstrations, demanding that their jobs be regularised.
All Guest Teacher Association president Praveen Tobaria said despite the Chief Minister's promise to regularise the jobs of those on contract, a decision was yet to be taken in this regard. "We have not been even able to meet the Chief Minister or Education Minister Manish Sisodia at the Secretariat," he added.
Meanwhile, contract employees of the Delhi government-run dispensaries and hospitals, and doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and staff members employed under the National Rural Health Mission also demanded that their jobs to be made permanent.
BJP party workers also protested demanding that Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharati be sacked.

Later, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal came out of his office and addressed the protesters.
"I believe that a country where teachers are kept on contract basis cannot progress...But give us some time...We are posting the secretary's...We will fulfil your demands," he said to the protesting teachers.
He also addressed the farmers, and assured them of taking their demands into account.
