BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan today appealed to Delhi residents to vote in large numbers tomorrow, saying they should draw inspiration from tribals in Chhattisgarh where around 74 per cent turnout was witnessed despite the threat from Naxals.
"This (vote) is such a powerful weapon in the hands of people with the help of which they can dislodge any anti- people government and elect welfare minded government," Vardhan said.
Asking people to create a "new record" of voting, he said people of Delhi must prove that they are vigilant. In 2008 assembly polls, 57.58 per cent people had exercised their rights.
"Delhi should create a new record of voting and show to the world that the voters of Delhi are vigilant and aware about right to vote. They can differentiate between good and bad. The people of Delhi know how to punish and reward the ruling party at a proper time," he said in a press release.
"The tribal people in Chhattisgarh which is a Naxal affected area have registered 70 per cent voting although they were under the threat of Naxals not to vote. The voters of Delhi have all the facilities in this regard. They should show that they are aware of their right to vote and the power of democracy," he said.
