Students of Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology in Delhi have sought Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's intervention, alleging the college authorities were charging enormous fees to allow them to register for back-log exams.

"We are not eligible for any internship if we have back-logs in first and second year, which we are allowed to clear in third year only. We are being asked to re-attend all the classes, even if they clash with our current semester classes," a letter sent by students to Sisodia read.

Sisodia has forwarded the letter to D S Pandit, director of higher education, to take appropriate action in the matter.

According to a notice issued by the college authority, third year students of NSIT have been asked to pay a fee of Rs 10,000 per subject to register themselves for back-log papers of odd semesters (I and III) under a new scheme of Choice-Based Credit System.

An additional amount of Rs 800 as examination fee and Rs 100 for per semester marksheet is being charged, the students added.

Calls and text messages to S P Singh, NSIT dean, seeking his comments on the issue were not answered.
