Delhi Traffic Police launches drive to enforce lane discipline

In an intensive drive launched in the national capital to enforce lane discipline, Delhi Traffic police has prosecuted more than 32,000 drivers since February 23 while 2,000 of them were challaned today alone for violations.
According to Delhi Police, a dedicated drive against lane indiscipline is being conducted in South Delhi on stretches like Lado Sarai to Khanpur T point on MB road, CDR Chowk to Sultanpur metro station on MG road, Ashram Chowk to Madanpur Khadar on Mathura road, T point Africa Avenue near IIT hostel to cover incoming traffic of Outer Ring Road and Africa Avenue.
"We have prosecuted 2,189 drivers. So far 32,272 drivers have been prosecuted since February 23 when we started this drive. We will continue to enforce lane discipline in Delhi in the interest of road safety and mobility in times to come," Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Muktesh Chander.

"We are using cluster of motorcycles on each stretch with heavy and saturated deployment of local traffic staff and extra reserve staff. All senior officers are supervising the operation," he added.
Police also videographed the entire drive so that if any violator manages to escape from the spot, he can be sent a challan at his address, police said.
