The Delhi Transporters Association today condemned diesel price hike terming it a dubious move by the government and demanded its immediate recall.
"The Delhi Transporters Association...Very strongly protest against and condemn the government's dubious move to allow Rs 1.09 hike in price of diesel per litre immediately after the nine phase Polls are over consciously knowing that the governments tenure is coming to an end," it said in a statement.
The decision to hike the price of diesel should have been left to the new government, it said alleging, "It appears that the government is hand in gloves with the Oil Companies."
The statement said after going ahead with its decision on September 12, 2012 to make a steep Rs 5 per litre hike in diesel prices the government de-controlled it and "cleverly decided to increase it in small doses of Rs 0.50 every month."
It said every increase in the price of diesel heavily tells upon the operational cost of the transporters and this has sent shock waves to the entire fraternity.
It demanded the price hike be immediately reversed.
