At the end of the day as many as 130 nominations filed were found to be in order after preliminary scrutiny.
While 35 aspirants filed nominations for the post of President, 30 filed for that of Vice-President, and another 33 and 32 filed nominations for the posts of Joint-Secretary and Secretary.
The candidates have time to withdraw their nominations till 12 noon of September 6, following which the actual numbers and names of candidates in fray will be clear and listed out.
Some of the candidates filed nominations for more than one post, and over the next two days their outfits will make a final call on candidature for the various posts.
The election is slated for September 14 following which the varsity will get its new students' union.
The DUSU elections are hotly contested and considered a matter of prestige for major political groups. BJP's student wing ABVP has dominated the last few students' unions, with its members campaigning hard against the Congress-led state and Central governments.
Ajay Chikra, the last president of the union, was affiliated to the Congress's student wing NSUI, while all the other three posts were held by student activists of the ABVP.
