According to MeT, humidity levels were recorded between 37 and 61 per cent during the day and the maximum temperature was recorded at 41.2 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
People who stepped out were seen wiping off sweat repeatedly due to the sultry conditions in the city.
"It is very humid, and even fans and coolers are of no use in these conditions," said Sanjay Joshi, a government official.
Intermittent showers a few days back gave Delhiites respite from the extremely hot and dry conditions which persisted from June 3 to June 9 when temperature hovered around the 45 degrees-mark. The rain, however, caused humidity levels to increase.

Earlier in the day, Delhiites woke up to a warm morning under cloudy skies as minimum temperature was recorded at 30.6 degrees, three points above normal.
No rain was recorded till 5.30 pm in any part of Delhi, weatherman said.
Yesterday, a maximum temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius was recorded in the city.
"There would be a partly cloudy sky tomorrow and thundery conditions may occur in some parts of the national capital while maximum and minimum temperature may settle at 41 and 31 degrees Celsius respectively," said a MeT official, adding that there was possibility of partly cloudy sky with rains or thunderstorms till June 20 while maximum temperature may be between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius.
