A 35-year-old married woman from Delhi was raped allegedly by two self-proclaimed holymen (sadhus) at an ashram in village Nangli here, police said today.
ASP Sankalp Sharma said that the woman, a resident of Dariyaganj area in Delhi, who was accompanied by her engineer husband, had visited the ashram situated at Nangli Aazad village in Daurala area during a purnima (full moon) fair, organised every year.
The victim, in her complaint, said that two sadhus asked her and her husband to follow them to the ashram when they were returning after having 'langar' at the mela around a week ago, the ASP said.
According to the victim, the two sadhus then gangraped her in the ashram after holding her husband hostage, the ASP said.
The victim told police that she did not report the case fearing disgrace and returned to home in Delhi.
However, she came to Daurala women police station yesterday and reported the case, said the ASP.
A case has been registered against the two accused Feru (40) and Raju (22), he said, adding that she was medically examined and police are looking for the accused.
Meanwhile, reacting to the news, the chief priest of Ashram, Pinky Maharaj said the duo is not associated with the Ashram and police should arrest them.
