The main task of the coalition government in Nepal is to deliver a constitution within a year, the country's Deputy Prime Minister said today.
"A new constitution should be delivered to the people within a year by owning up the documents prepared by 11 thematic committees of the first Constituent Assembly that was dissolved a year and a half ago," said Prakash Man Singh while addressing a seminar on 'Politics and Ganesh Man Singh' organised by Ganesh Man Singh Centre here.
Singh is the son of Ganesh Man Singh, who had led the Peoples Movement of 1990 that restored multi-party democracy in the country.
He said that ideal politics could be established in the country if political parties follow the principles of late Ganesh Man Singh.
Singh, also the Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, said local bodies' polls should be held by amending provisions of the Local Self-Governance Act.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the ongoing peace process would be completed after the formation of Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission on Enforced Disappearances.
The government has recently tabled a bill to form the two separate commissions in order to provide transitional justice to the victims of the decade-long conflict.
