Demand in RS to restore sugar production

A demand was raised in Rajya Sabha today to restore production of sugar on full-scale by facilitating cane-crushing in the mills, particularly in Uttar Pradesh.
Raising the issue through a special mention, Motilal Vora (Cong) said production of sugar fell drastically so far this year compared to the same period last year.
This might lead to a huge economic loss and the loss of lives of poor and marginal farmers who have taken loans for cultivation of sugarcane.
Gyan Prakash Pilania (BJP) demanded remedial measures to reduce gender gap in different fields in the country.
A demand to issue a postal stamp to commemorate 150 years of the Kuka movement was raised by Avinash Rai Khanna (BJP).
Ram Vilas Paswan (LJP) sought to increase the number of attempts and relax age limits for civil services aspirants, affected due to the new pattern of UPSC examination.
