A 50-year-old police constable from Mumbai succumbed to dengue during his treatment at a hospital in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, a senior officer said today.
The deceased, Prakash Patil, was posted at Govandi police station since the past one-and-a-half months. Before that, he was attached to Pant Nagar police station.
"Patil was admitted to MGM Hospital at Vashi (in Navi Mumbai) around three days back after he was diagnosed with dengue. However, he died at the hospital last night," the police officer said.
Patil's body was taken to his native place Kolhapur for the last rites today, Shrikant Mohite, senior police inspector of Pant Nagar police station, said.
The constable is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
