A statement issued by the Raj Bhavan today said the governor learnt about cases of dengue, chikungunya and malaria in the state from newspaper reports and other sources and that he was concerned about the health of the people.
"Governor Tripathi has written a letter to the state government ... that in view of the serious nature of all these diseases and concern expressed by a large number of the population in this regard, all efforts should be made for treatment as well as prevention of these diseases," the statement said.
The governor had written the letter to Banerjee yesterday.
A delegation of state Congress leaders led by WBPCC president Adhir Chowdhury had met him at Raj Bhawan on the dengue menace.
