Breeding of dengue mosquitoes has been reported from an NTPC staff colony and a superspeciality hospital, among other places in south Delhi, the area's civic body today said.
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) said the violators have been prosecuted.
"An NTPC colony, a super-speciality hospital in Janakpuri, some PWD offices and ITI Hari Nagar are among the places where breeding of aedes agypti were reported," an SDMC official said.
Bite from aedes agypti mosquitoes can cause vector-borne disease like dengue and chikungunya. They breed only in clear water.
In view of coming monsoon season, the public health department of the SDMC today convened an intersectoral coordination meeting on its preparedness to handle any potential dengue and/or outbreak situation.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Commissioner Dilraj Kaur, who informed that efforts of Public Health Department need to be supplemented by active participation by all partners.
