According to an official statement, an inspection was carried out today during which breeding of dengue mosquitoes were found in the basement of MTNL, premises of a leading business house near the Civic Centre, CPWD colony and a private contractor (mosquito-breeding found at construction site in drums and water containers), both on Rouse Avenue in north Delhi.
As per the statement, the civic officials also went to inspect the CAG building premises, but "were turned away by security guards."
"The security guard room was then checked and the cooler was found to contain mosquito-breeding," it said.
NDMC has six Zones -- City, Rohini, Narela, Sadar Paharganj, Karol Bagh and Civil Lines. Among all the zones, the maximum cases have been reported from Narela (260).
As per the municipal corporation's data till September 12, at least 613 cases of dengue have been reported in the last one week.
The total number of cases in the city have now escalated to over 2000, while 16 deaths have been reported. The death toll according to MCD, however, still stands at 5.
