Barred from parking his vehicle in his office premises, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation Mayor-in-Council Rajesh Chirimar today lied down in protest for an hour, blocking movement of other vehicles.
As soon as Chirimar reached the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation office gate at around 2 pm, the security guards rushed in to stop his vehicle.
Chirimar, MIC (Mass Education), rang up higher officials, but none of them came to his rescue. Left with no other option, Chirimar lied down in front of the gate.
Chirimar alleged that the parking issue has been bugging him for long.
"I raised my voice repeatedly, but nothing materialised as yet," he said.
Chirimar withdrew only after his colleague, Mayor-in-Council (Lighting and Parks) Sujit Saha, intervened.
