To ensure maximum participation in Lok Sabha elections, Nalbari Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Bhartat Bhushan Devchoudhury has sent letters each household in the district urging them to vote.
"You are our country's future ... Please ensure that all in your family cast their votes in the morning on the polling day. This will be your duty towards the motherland," the letter said.
Choudhury has also taken steps to send another batch of around 50,000 letters to the students of high and higher secondary classes across Nalbari so that they can create awareness to cast votes in the families.
"In order to ensure 100 per cent polling in the district, we have been taking various initiative to aware the voters, especially the youth and the women. This letter is a part of that initiative," Devchoudhury said.
The Nalbari district has a total of 1.2 lakh voter families, comprising 5.6 lakh eligible voters, and 690 polling stations, he added.
The voters of the district are spread across Mangaldoi, Gauhati, Barpeta constituencies.

While Mangaldoi is going for polling in the second phase on April 18, Gauhati and Barpeta will witness voting on April 23 during the third phase.
The colourful letters signed by the deputy commissioner were delivered to each household through around 700 booth level officers.
The letters signed by the deputy Commissioner will reach the schools and the principals will make arrangements to distribute them among the students.
Likewise, the letter to the families appealed all the members to go and vote for the development of the country.
Devchoudhury said instructions have been issued to all the circle officers to ensure that no family is left without this letter.
"The reverse page of the letter carry some mandatory procedures during the time of voting. We printed a total of 1.7 lakh letters and it cost us around Rs one lakh," he added.
The three-phase voting for 14 seats in Assam will take place on April 11, 18 and 23, while the counting of votes will be on May 23 after completion of the entire seven-phase voting across the country.
