Depression weakens into well-marked low pressure area

A depression over Bay of Bengal today weakened into a well-marked low pressure area, and would bring rainfall to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next two hours, India Meteorological Department today said.
"The depression over west central bay and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal moved south westward, weakened further and lay as a well marked low pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal at 0530 hours IST of today..," IMD said in a bulletin.
Under the influence of this system, rainfall would occur at many places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry with isolated heavy rainfall over coastal Tamil Nadu in the next 48 hours, it added.

Meanwhile, Chennai and its suburbs experienced light rains, accompanied by strong winds.
