"The depression over west central bay and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal moved south westward, weakened further and lay as a well marked low pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal at 0530 hours IST of today..," IMD said in a bulletin.
Under the influence of this system, rainfall would occur at many places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry with isolated heavy rainfall over coastal Tamil Nadu in the next 48 hours, it added.
