Deputy Jailor Kamal Kishore Mishra was attacked by two jail inmates when he intervened in an argument they were having with a supervisor for having prohibited items in their meals, officials said.
The injured officer was rushed to a hospital.
Jail superintendent PN Pandey said strict action will be initiated against the inmates responsible for the act.
