Design Kerala Summit on December 11 to rebuild flood-hit state

: The Kerala government is organising a 'Design Kerala Summit' here on December 11 and 12 with a view to leveraging path-breaking design solutions in rebuilding the flood-ravaged state.

Various sessions would be taken up for deliberation on public infrastructure, technology infrastructure, tourism, handloom uplift and living space, a press release said Thursday.

Experts from each area would innovate and outline models that ensure a sustainable ecosystem for a better Kerala, the press release said.

Chief Minister of the state Pinarayi Vijayan would address the summit on December 12, the release said.

The summit forms the key segment of one of the largest design festivals - the six-day 'Kochi Design Week', it said.

The festival, to be attended by design luminaries, architects and decision-makers from around the world, concludes on December 16, the release said.

The Design Week was aimed at boosting innovative design and solutions in the state and equip it with futuristic technology and architecture to deal with natural calamities more effectively, it said.

The event, happening when Kerala is getting into a crucial phase of reconstruction, is helmed by the department of information technology in the state, it said.

The event would showcase technology options which can be used during the rebuilding phase as installations so that various stakeholders can experience them, the release said.

Ideas merging out of the event would be shared with relevant departments for their reference, it said.
