Desperate Chinese man abducts woman to be 'wife' for New Year

A 32-year-old Chinese man abducted a woman and demanded her to 'marry' him so that he could take her to his home village during upcoming Chinese New Year.
Liu abducted a 24-year-old woman in Dalian to take her home for Spring Festival to alleviate himself of pressure from his family to marry.
The Spring Festival which includes the Lunar New Year for Chinese begins on February 19.
Police tracked down Liu after the victim surnamed Tan, a factory employee was reported missing by her boyfriend.
"Liu accosted me on way to work, tied me up and took me to a remote location, where he demanded me to marry him, Tan was quoted as saying to state-run Global Times.
He abducted Tan in order to avoid pressure to marry from family members during Spring Festival, it said.

"All my brothers and sisters are engaged while I'm still single. As Chinese New Year approaches... I'm worried that my parents would put pressure on me," Liu said.
Liu who is in police custody told them that he began plotting to kidnap a woman one month earlier.
"I had not considered the consequences. I just wanted to find a wife. I cannot stand the way they (parents)nag me about my marriage," he said.
