During Question Hour in the Gujarat Assembly, Congress MLA Punambhai Parmar's written question asked the government to give details about surveys done till date for the Kalpsar project and also sought answers about the project's benefits.
In her written reply, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel who handles Kalpsar department, stated that two surveys have already been carried out.
A limited survey was carried out earlier to prepare a pre-feasibility report. At that time, it was envisioned that the dam would connect Ghogha in Bhavnagar and Hansot in Bharuch district.
Now, the path line has been changed to Bhavnagar-Dahej, for which, a detailed survey has been carried out, the Gujarat CM said.

Since the dam would also have a highway on top of it, Patel claimed that the distance between Bhavnagar and South Gujarat would be reduced by 136 km.
She also stated that after the feasibility report is ready, her government would initiate the process to acquire all required permissions and commence the project at the earliest.
