"The next aim is to win a medal at the 2016 Olympics," Indu said here today.

"I am not counting that much on the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games but I am really determined to make it to the Olympics and give my 100 per cent for the country," said the 20-year-old wrestler from Meerut.

Indu, however, mentioned that her immediate focus will be on the senior national championship in November.

The 44kg wrestler, who hails state-mate Alka Tomar as her role model, won a bronze at the just concluded Junior World Championship after beating Evin Demirhan of Turkey 3-1 in a closely contested repechage round bout.

"The competition was very tough. It was unfortunate to go down to the Japanese wrestler in the semifinal. But I was determined to win. So I didn't lose my focus and came back strongly in the repechage round to win a bronze," Indu said.

Indu, the only Indian girl to clinch a medal at the championship, beat Russia's Aziyata Khomushku in a lop-sided pre-quarterfinal and also got better of Moldova's Emilia Budeanu in the quarters before losing to Japan's Rie Matsumoto in the semifinals. (More)
