The development process in Arunachal Pradesh is in for a new thrust with Opposition BJP seeking help from the Centre and ruling Congress government in the state reflecting its commitment to speed up the process.
Opposition Leader Tamiyo Taga, who is camping in New Delhi and is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon, today informed that he would seek numerous projects for the state, including an AIIMS and an IIT in places like Pasighat and Namsai which offer academic atmosphere besides suitable land for setting up of such institutes.
Locations with proper communication facilities, particularly in the foothill areas, should be identified as there would be an all India quota for students while faculty from outside would be joining too, he said.
Asked about the inordinate delay in setting up of a medical college in Pachin village, he said many important projects, like medical college and Greenfield Airport have been delayed in the state capital because of unavailability of land, legal litigation, and craze for availing compensation.
Central institutes should be located in different parts of the state while protecting the interests of the locals, he said, adding, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has already hinted at setting up of an AIIMS in the state.
