A huge public gathering was witnessed today on the occasion of Hola Mohalla at the Sikh shrine of Keshgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib, which coincided with Holi, the festival of colours.
People offered prayers and participated in the Hola Mohalla celebrations at the shrine.
Takht Keshgarh Sahib is the second-most important Sikh shrine after Harmandar Sahib, popularly known as the Golden Temple, in Amritsar.
It was here in 1699 that the tenth Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh, baptised five men and founded the Khalsa Panth, which is the modern day Sikh religion.
The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal organised its political conference during the celebrations. It was addressed by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Akali Dal president and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Devotees also took holy dips at the sacred tank adjacent to the Sikh shrine.
